Hailing from Victoria, BC, by way of Toronto, Canada, Plastic Motive
has been an active member of the Canadian electronic music scene for
14 years. After picking up his first pair of Technique 1200’s in the
summer of 1998 it didn’t take long for this funky stylist to begin
making his mark on the dancefloors of Toronto’s underground. From 1999
to 2005 Plastic Motive held it down with a multitude of Southern
Onatario DJ residencies, including such prolific party companies as
Goodfellaz, Big Bud, ONdaFLY, Funkadelic and Impure, as well as his
own project Sourkee Productions. In his time in Toronto he would also
help run two highly successful weekly nights (Funk’N Fridaze and
Re-Form Saturday’s) bringing local as well as international artists
to the T.O. masses! At the end of 2005, now a young local veteran, it
was time for this DJ to take it to the air! Deciding on
Victoria, British Columbia, this new home base would allow
Plastic Motive to reach a new West Coast audience. Quickly racking
up nearby gigs in Seattle, Vancouver and Nanaimo, he continued to
host his own events under the newly minted production company,
NeXstep Entertainment. Now just 6 years since his move to the
West Coast this sound messenger has managed to open for Frankie Bones
in Kansas City, rocked the decks at the corner of Freemont and
Las Vegas Blvd and headlined in Shanghai, China!! With stops in
Rotterdam and Berlin, Plastic Motive has played in other such cities
as New York, Montreal, Buffalo, and has opened for names such as
Micky Finn, Luna-C, Breakfastaz, DJ Venom. He plays hard, he plays
funky, he’ll make you freak on the dance floor like you’ve never
freaked before!! Big Breaks and Heavy Bass are at the top of the menu
when this DJ comes to town and he’s ready to serve it to you Fresh and
hot upon two technique 1200 turntables!!

Born in Zululand, Morgan Tedder moved to Canada at the age of 10.
Calling Victoria, B.C. home since, he began DJing in 2002 and has been
in the foreground of the Island drum n’ bass scene ever since.
His smooth mixing of soulful liquid funk and sunshine dubbed-out
dnb have moved dancefloors throughout B.C., as well as a headlining slot
in Cape Town. Tedder has played alongside some of the biggest names in
drum n’ bass: Calibre, High Contrast, LTJ Bukem, London Elektricity,
Marcus Intalex, Benny Page, Mutt, Utah Jazz & Marcus Visionary… as
well as Bassnectar, Dub FX, Rusko, Beats Antique, Chicken George, Mat
the Alien & Zed’s Dead.
Tedder is the founder of Liquidfunk.ca, long-time resident DJ at
Whitebird Lounge, regular drum n’ bass DJ at Hush Nightclub, as well as a
staple on the Liquid Soul Stage at Soundwave Music Festival on the west
coast.

The tunes found in Given’s repertoire has helped move forward the liquid
funk revolution. Soulful lyrics, chunky rolling bass lines, jazzy
rifts and intelligent drum samples are all elements of the smooth sets
dropped by this veteran DJ. Given is known for his quick moving sets that highlight all the styles of drum and bass from liquid funk, through jump up and dubby jungle to the harder darker and more techy sounds.
Over the last ten years, Given has played along side some of the more well known international DJ’s as well as the local favs. Playing fun sets at festivals such as Soundwave and Tall Tree and at Whitebird lounge Given has created a little name for himself in the Victoria scene.
Given is thankful to the drum and bass soldiers for helping keep the deeper sounds alive and real all these years and to the awesome promoters for creating such opportunities. Come experience a showcase of drum and bass music at it’s fullest!
