Sinesthetix (pr. sin-es-thet-iks) aka Matt Saunders fka Dr. Gonzo has been into music almost pre-natally. Although his first memories of music were listening to his Dad’s Meatloaf, Abba, Queen, and classical records his Mother recalls vivid memories of a yet-to-be-born Junglist kicking in time with the music at an early 1980’s Beach Boys concert. It wasn’t long afterward that this aspiring DJ was listening along with the legendary radio DJ Red Robinson, and not long after that, became involved in music in school.
Although not by any means a classically trained musician or even really in band class, Matt always liked to rock out. His first foray into musical manipulation was when he picked up the almighty Recorder in elementary school. Matt rocked the Tenor Recorder for two straight years before moving away from Vancouver. The electric guitar soon followed in high school, until Matt was bitten by the rave bug. Soon after his first rave, Matt got his first turntables and the rest is history.
First starting off in a local nightclub and progressing onward to gigs in other cities it wasn’t long before Matt was opening for the likes of John B, DJ Fresh, Concord Dawn, Noisia, Mutt, Gremlinz, Pacific, and Psidream just to name a few. The Sinesthetix sound can cover all facets of Drum and Bass, although he is best known for what could be described as “Party-Tech” Never afraid to get filthy, and yet still dancefloor-oriented is what Sinesthetix is all about.
